I was offered a position at Mercy’s emergency department.

What’s the parking like at the hospital? I’ve been trying to do my research, but can’t find any info about employee parking. They have a parking garage, but it looks rather small… and don’t seem to have a single parking lot. Compared to children’s which has an unbelievable amount of parking.

I’d prefer not to park on the street, or use a shuttle service. I would have to rely on my own transportation.

Can employees park in the garage? Do you pay per day? Is it easy to find a spot?

I see they run shuttles from the lots near the hockey area. So I’m guessing to park on site is going to be pricey if at all possible. Guess it may depend on your shift.

Thanks for the advice! I definitely should’ve put that in the post. It’s a 7p-7a shift. I know it’s not the worst area in Pittsburgh, but it’s definitely not a great one. I definitely don’t want to walk long distances at night haha

I work day shift there but I’m 99% sure that if you work night shift, you can park in the garage attached to the hospital. I’m not sure if you need to pay or not. You do have to pay for parking on day shift.

Do you have access to the Infonet yet? Or can you email your manager? They can give you the number to the parking office so you can talk to them about your options.

You get to park in the garage attached to the hospital when working night shift - it’s connected via bridge to the hospital!

I went to Duquesne and lived three blocks past mercy. I’ll say I had zero safety concerns, always felt super safe around Mercy. Walking to the parking near the arena wouldn’t be fun if you had to for any reason
