Hi everyone. I am relocating with my partner to the area and I see the weather has been bipolar (when isn’t it) of being cooler then rainy then flurries at some points. Since we are not around I wanted to get everyone’s thoughts. We will be near the green tree area so I wanted to know kinda what the weather has been like from people who are there dealing with it lol. Are the roads icy cause of the raining and coldness? Has it been really rainy recently? Please do let me know!

Very mild winter this year. Barely any snow. Just a bunch of rain. Roads have been fine.

If you have a front wheel drive car, decent tires and don't drive like an idiot you'll be fine.

Freezing rain is very uncommon around here, it requires very specific conditions and can be predicted pretty accurately. If you see a forecast for rain during winter months it will just be rain.

You're right. It's very rare for damaging ice storms to occur here because cold air damning is tough to get west of the Appalachians.

Yeah I'm pushing 40 and I can count the number of significant ice events on one hand, I don't think I have enough appendages to count the snow events during that time though lol.

I'm in my early 30s, and I can think of only one or two truly major icing events where trees and power lines had issues near the city.

I was intimately involved with one where I was forced to attempt to walk home from work. I had to bear crawl most of the way and ended up only making it to my friend's house which was about halfway between work and home. Thankfully, his family was happy to let me spend the night but we were all pretty pissed when we had to go to school the next day.

Nothing to worry about. Are you coming this week? Looks like a pretty quiet week with temps in the 30s or 40s with little precipitation. We've hardly had any snow this winter, unfortunately.

We may get a half inch of snow tonight. That'll be exciting. Whether it actually sticks or stays more than 5 hours is up for debate.
