Did you see the crane operator drop the boat on the barge? He was not pleased To be picking up trash….
Kenitzka t1_je4vbh7 wrote
I did not! Can’t seem to find a video of it anywhere either.
Wouldwoodchuck t1_je4xi6q wrote
It was on kdka 6 am News broadcast. Good chuckle for sure but nothing to outlandish. Just the last couple feet the operator checks out and drops it on the deck of the barge. Cheers

Very anticlimactic. Couldn't they have lit off some Zambelli fireworks or something

Somebody stole my boat!

So sad. If only we had some notice.
This whole process was way too quick!

I love cranes. They’re so useful
distilledfluid t1_je3lo6j wrote
Yah, but don't buy one for your girlfriend for Christmas. Learned that the hard way.
SmellView42069 t1_je50r3p wrote
That’s why you need to only date girls who are crane operators.

I’m in crane insurance (and am woman). But yes, I agree. I don’t think most women would want a crane as a gift. Maybe a forklift or a dolly though
cordy_crocs t1_je3nww6 wrote
Cranes have definitely come in handy for Pittsburgh the last few years lol

A new annual spring event? Could be the makings of a new festival.

gotta train the groundhog to pop out of the boat.

Wonder how much it cost to get rid of
Aggravating_Foot_528 t1_je4fqmu wrote
Spread over all the PA taxpayers it's not that much. You'll get the bill soon.

Now they just need to clean up the other trash on the trails.
captrespect t1_je5g9fj wrote
Checkout friendsoftheriverfront.org to volunteer, they have cleanup events all the time.

Will do. Glad to see this.

Sorry I don't live here. What's going on with this boat?
Aggravating_Foot_528 t1_je4g1j9 wrote
It was the boat from the famous SNL The Lonely Island video. T-Pain brought it here for a Steelers game in the late fall of last year since he's a big fan. That's the game he sang both the National Anthem and led the Terrible Towel wave. Had it transported to Cincinnati, sailed it the rest of the way since he likes seeing this part of the country. Took him a week.
It got stuck after the engine broke and unfortunately for him it was right before a big flood, so the boat took on water and got stuck in the riverbed.
He's been trying to move it for months but then it started leaking fuel (prob from a cracked hull from river debris) so he had to get a boat salvage team, but the river has been running high for a while so this was the first time he could salvage the boat in weeks.
Sad story.

nice, I'm down to agree on this being the official story.
ShatteredAvenger t1_je4p13n wrote
wow, I knew T-Pain owned it, but I didn't realize he'd sailed it from Cincinnati- that's a commitment. Thanks for the extra information.
Strategery_Man t1_je5vvxt wrote
It isn't T-Pain's boat lol

Dang. A salvage spud barge with a crane and a tug. A minimum 3 man crew. Who’s footing that bill?
