And maybe the best in Pittsburgh. A wonderful date restaurant. Amazing authentic food, exceptional service, and a great bar service too. And low key one of the best espressos in the city.
I spent a month in Rome last year. Had lots of amazing meals there, but few if none that were truly better than Dish.

Seconded, fantastic place. Small, chill atmosphere, really good food, and relatively reasonably priced for what you're getting.

Dish Osteria is a damn gem. Some of the best Italian food in any city, excellent drinks, and dim-and-cozy but not dark-or-crowded type of ambiance. Get a reservation.
Bar Marco, Di'anoias, and Leo Greta are the other wow Italian places, but Dish is walkable *and* for what you want, that's the pick of those four.

Cafe Du Jour has some wonderful French food. It's more of a laid back atmosphere than your typical French restaurant too.

Alla Famiglia a close second in Allentown. It’s a bonus that you could get murdered going to or from either location. I’m kidding folks both places are safe AF.

Can’t go wrong with Streets or these other recommendations.
Sultry F&B is new and possibly overlooked bc they’ve yet to get a liquor license, but their food is very good. Brunch there is awesome.

I mean, what do they like?
I always seem to end up at Sly Fox, it's towards the Incline on "The Highline". We ride bikes from Color Park down to Hot Metal, cross over, Ride to the Point, then back across Smithfield to stop back at Sly Fox for a beer (Royal Weiss) and whatever's on special.
Otherwise, in addition to what's been suggestion already, there's a Waffle's Inc right on Carson. Go early for Breakfast, but it's worth doing once.

I ate there for the first time the other night.. BLEW me away , the rice was insanely good ( just the reg table rice) , first time eating short ribs ( AWESOME) & got some spicy green beans.
Love going out to eat & while many places have good food, this place really shocked me.

Right?? It was literally the first place my partner and I got takeout when we moved to PGH last January. It remains one of our favorites. Every single thing I've ever gotten there - except for one - has been delicious. As for that one exception, it was stinky tofu. There's a reason it says "no refunds" for that item on the menu, haha. I'm a pretty adventurous eater as a rule. I got the stinky tofu - which is aptly named - past my nose and into my mouth. I chewed. I gagged. I tried to continue chewing. I gagged some more and finally had to admit defeat and spit it out. I'm sure it's a great rendition of the dish, it just tested the limits of my western palate. X-D

Cambodican on 17th in south side. Really great hole in the wall restaurant. Opens at like 5pm for the dinner and drunk crowd closes at like 3am. It's well made chinese/Cambodian food. Not sure how ti really describe it but it's good.
