you certainly can. i've gone through 4 endos in 10 years for various reasons and the disparity in care is substantial. That said, Dr Ullal is pretty awesome.

I had Dr Yip for parathyroid surgery a few years ago. She was very good. But I don’t know if she does general endocrine visits.

PCOS. Fighting with the nurse line to get meds refilled or corrected is not the highlight of my life with them, plus she just makes you feel unheard. It also doesn't help that she's very difficult to get an appointment scheduled with.

Oh that was the doctor that did my surgery, too. I thought she was fantastic.

UPMC if u want a complete dice roll on the type of care you’ll receive. Personally, after too many bad experiences, I would avoid upmc at all costs

Can you describe your experience with Dr. Ullal? Where in the city are they based?

Not Lawrenceville, but Dr. Heller in Sewickley has been my endocrinologist for years. He's a great doctor and very easy to talk to.

I go to Dr. French at UPMC's Falk Endocrinology center, and I have had good experiences with everyone I've dealt with in that office. (Type 1 diabetes.)

I actually switched doctor's from her to someone in AHN because I could not get an appointment. I called about 4-5 weeks before I would need to be seen back in Oct and was told I couldn't be seen until December. I called around over the following week to see if other doctors at UPMC would be able to get me in earlier, which was a no because none would see another doctor's patient, then called back.

Apparently within that week the earliest appointment went from Dec to March. I would have long run out of my medication by then and they wouldn't refill it without an appointment and the yearly bloodwork. The receptionist who was "helping" me basically shamed me for calling and trying to set up an appointment too late. A month before it would be need was too late! According to her you have to call 8-10 weeks in advance and it was wrong of me to expect otherwise. At that point I was over it and switched entirely.

In Pittsburgh it’s UPMC or AHN - either way, I’d call for an appointment tomorrow.

I second Dr. Ullal.. He found my thyroid cancer. After a year of weight gain and weird symptoms, he was the one who actually listened to me.

My son sees dr. baldauff and she's terrific
