I was excited about this, but the more I read about it the less I want to attend.

Saw it announced and was pumped for the lineup! Honestly, pissed off I didn't go for the early bird pricing but yeah that was before bands were announced so it was too much of a gamble. But now, $109+ for two days, while not a bad price is getting up there. Throw in parking ($25, but not clear if that's a weekend pass or per day, I'm assuming the latter) and we may just do one of the days. The problem is picking which day, haha. It's a really good lineup, I don't think the top two acts can touch Isbell and Black Pumas from last year's Maplehouse, but the middle is strong with Matt Maeson, Airbone Toxic Event, Stephen Sanchez, The Head and the Heart, COIN, etc. Blue Stones are pretty killer and Smallpools fits the "festival" vibe. Don't sleep on Michigander.

Because of price and lineup? Or something else? Just curious.

Was hoping to attend but after seeing the lineup realize I do not know any of these artists.

I love shows at Hartwood, we go to a lot of them. This event is a major turn off for all the reasons we love the Hartwood experience.

The presale tickets were $60 for the weekend. They'll be more than that now but for two solid days of music that's not bad. It will be two stages so there's very little down time between sets.

Note that this is a much different experience than a usual free show at Hartwood so yes, they're trying to make their money through other means.

If it's like last years event, you're allowed reentry so there was the option to tailgate at your car and not rely on vendors for food.

If festivals aren't something you're used to, I can answer more questions about what to expect though I'm no expert.

I saw him live in Akron at a tiny club. It’s great seeing him blow up a bit. I heard Circles randomly in 2020 and was hooked.

It is a great lineup. Bet you will find a few that you come to love if you have never heard of any of them previously.

Multitude of factors...

Mostly the whole lockdown and (ever so popular these days) price gouging. $25 to park is insane. The small side lot will be full by 10am I would bet and the school lot will be closed so that will not be an option. If I want a PB&J and a bottle of water I will have to walk to my car to save $20 on linner (lunch dinner). Then either have to get a dog sitter or run home mid-day to let my dogs out and feed them. The whole "Law enforcement will be on site..." statement makes me queasy too. The County Mounties are at every show there but they never boast it or bother anyone unless it is merited.

I've seen Michigander several times and would love to see him again, and we have been dying to see Coin for the first time also... but I'm not sure those two are worth the ticket price and the hassle. Our tickets to Peachfest were a little more than this and that is an insane lineup spanning 4 days.

Yep, I'm with ya. Hozier and Mraz do absolutely nothing for me, but as a YEP listener I know and love lots of the bands in the smaller fonts.

It’s also an attempt to bring a large scale music festival to the city which is good for tourism, engagement of the young professionals Pittsburgh sometimes struggles to retain, and pretty exciting no matter how you paint it. Although I agree with it potentially being logistical nightmare and a public park, I think that’s unfortunately what comes with these things (ie Lollapalooza in Chicago). But it’s an awesome step in the right direction in my opinion and there’ll only lessons to learn from it.

I’m assuming Tull is behind this, which if (and only if) he can use his powers for good, I’m all for it.

Can't say I'm thrilled. Indianapolis got Weezer and Jason Isbell. We got... Jason Mraz? I know Weezer is coming to Pittsburgh in the summer, and Jason Isbell has been through here twice in the last year-plus, but I'm honestly pretty underwhelmed by the lineup. I live five minutes from Hartwood Acres, so I was looking forward to see who would be playing, but I think I'll be sitting this one out.

I don’t think there was anything tragic but their challenge is trying to gate sections of the park off while keeping people from breaking in and causing a mess. Highly highly doubt this’ll get to that level though out there in Hartwood lol

As long as it's over by 10 p it doesn't matter. They have concerts every Sunday there in the summer.

I think the "law enforcement will be on site" was mentioned because people get shot in mass casualty events at music festivals and clubs in the US. And it happens a lot. It was meant to be reassuring, not creepy. I think some people avoid larger gatherings these days because of worry about a mass shooter .

$25 to park is fair because it's very very limited parking with 2 lane roads leading to the venue. The more they charge for parking the more people will carpool or find alternative types of transportation.

They took their name from the book White Noise, and I think the event in that book was based on what happened in Donora. I’ve been meaning to watch the movie - I hear it’s good.
