Agreed. Walking down that block of Smithfield I couldn't help feel sad looking up at the broken windows I used to look out of as a kid. Even if people have complaints with the Target, it's still a net positive.

Absolutely no doubt, but when I'm downtown I always wish those big department stores were still around. I know they aren't viable anymore, but there will always be something special about them to me. Especially around Christmas. But you're completely right, at least it's serving a purpose.

As someone who lives downtown, it’s been really nice to have some grocery options.. they have a lot packed into this little target

Absolutely - when I last lived in Pittsburgh I lived Downtown in the Roosevelt building and found myself in that terrible Burlington Coat Factory far too often. Would be nicer to have something with a local connection, but a Target right there would have been a huge upgrade.
