trunk or treat is a new thing. In these events, people park their cars in parking lots and decorate their trunks. Children βtrick or treatβ by going from car trunk to car trunk rather than going door to door at houses.

I don't know if I would call it "New"... It's been a thing since my son was born over 10 years ago. His first "Trick or Treating" event was a trunk or treat at a church before he was 1 year old and they had already been doing it several years before that.

At minimum, I know the Mormons were doing this back in the late 90's. I went to one.
