I guess it is kind of fitting for the United States national bird! ā€œThe bare-ankled bald eagles are a type of sea eagle that diverged from the African vulture lineage only a few million years ago. Although they may at times hunt, they retain the vulture's ability to survive an entire lifetime on rancid, decaying flesh.ā€ https://www.americanscientist.org/article/beauty-is-only-feather-deep

Shame the US never picked something awesome like the Golden Eagle. Anyone who's lived where bald eagles frequent knows theyre mostly just scavengers. Pretty scavengers, but scavengers nonetheless.

They're really fishers, but that's a hard life in the 21st century. Since they're basically reversed like Gods in the US, they have no fear of humans, and consequently don't mind scavenging a meal.

It's just Bald Eagle. When you said American Eagle, I just thought you meant the clothing store. I was very confused until I saw the picture šŸ˜‚

It isnt scavenging food from people that I was referring to though. Regardless of the revere for them it's simply in their nature to scavenge another animals kill. They only fish when they have to

We got tons of bald eagles here in Canada. I've never asked one of them for their passport or ID, so not really sure what their nationality is.
