My pet monster got me.

I had a full size plush with the chains that ‟break apart” when I was a kid. Coolest and most expensive thing I ever had as a kid. I cherished it.

Nostalgia for me would be Rocky and Bullwinkle, Boris and Natasha, Top Cat, Underdog, Fred Flintstone, George Jetson, QuickDraw McGraw and Peabody with his boy Sherman.

35 here, only things missing for me personally are Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Rocko. Otherwise this is all my childhood condensed into one work of art.

The contrast of the dark earth beneath the television depresses me.

contrast with the white "air" that allows all those thoughts to be free. combining all the inks makes black.

could be related to a prismatic effect, a la pink floyd album

Voltron and my pet monster? This is a most excellent deep dive into 80’s and early 90’s.

How empty would this be without advertising?

Yeah I’m 38 so I know a ton of these characters, grew up watching bits of many of these shows.

Not saying how anybody else should feel but just to add another perspective - for me personally this doesn’t give me a big wave of warm nostalgia. It just kinda reeks of like… man, that’s a ton of advertising. I know a lot of millennials have deep attachments to this stuff since the merchandising of kids media really started to get intense in the 80s, so I understand it. I think if I had seen this when I was in my early 20s I would respond positively to it. At this point it gives me pause and makes me reflect.
