Not a photoshop battle, but this may help. Although the background is actually mostly real colors (taken with a microscope and camera using a few light tricks) the praying mantis you are looking at is made of around 4 photos stitched together. Edit this photo is split in three parts (each day I worked on it) by imperfect shading. However the entire photo is made of probably 20 photos, all blended together to a degree

I did learn some of the photo stitching in light room, years ago. You did awesome with that. Cool find too, but poor praying mantis I love those dudes. I didn’t even think of trying to stitch them together that way. Now I’m gunna go relearn that, thanks.
