The enzymatic sprays designed for animal urine smells (Nature's Miracle, etc.) work wonders for dead animal smell, too. I'd snag a bottle, get on a ladder or chair, and spray the SHIT out of that space the big guy died in!

Mister Max Anti Icky Poo. Ridiculous name, but incredible (unscented) enzyme cleaner that actually works and doesn't just mask odors with fragrance.
