Former sous chef here, yeah restaurant work is rough and working the holidays sucks BUT people have different religious views and a lot of people don't celebrate Christmas. Rather than being mad at the people who don't celebrate Christmas and just want some grub be mad at the shit industry and the owners who force you to work. Organize your staff if you have to but blaming it on customers is pretty weak. Also working Christmas was always better than waking up at 3am to work mother's day brunch and get absolutely fucked all day.

I’m Jewish. I don’t go to restaurants or buy anything, anywhere on Christmas. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry. I’ve seen workers who have been forced to work Christmas and miss important family moments. It’s heartbreaking, and it is the customer’s fault because if they chose to not to go, the restaurant might close.

Disagree. the relationship bt Chinese restaurants and Jewish patrons is extremely heartwarming. Extending it beyond Chinese to Indian etc would be equally heartwarming

Actually I have, my wife also owned and ran a restaurant in NYC which I helped with for a number of years.
