I know of some good suburban options like aquarium center but looking to buy fish without a car. Where do people buy freshwater fish in the city? Monster Pets in South Philly wasn't great.

I thought that was only turtles. I guess every business needs to expand.
World wide aquariums in Upper Roxborough. The 9 has a stop at the ShopRite which is like half a block away.
Ken's in Chinatown
This is the correct answer
Most fish don’t have cars.
Awesome, thank you!

Np! Say hello to the store cat that's there. He's very cute

Didn't that one close a while back?
Yup. This is the place!! & If they don't have what you want? They'll usually try to order it for you. The only place I've been to in recent years in Philly that has any clue what they're actually talking about/selling too.
They've been closed since the pandemic shut downs.
Lmao at the downvotes, it was a joke!
You can get em from the river for free
I know you’re looking in the city, but Aquarium World in Boothwyn is really great. We’ve been to a bunch of stores recently for freshwater fish and this one really stands out for the extremely well kept fish and knowledgeable staff. They’ll even test your water for you for free. http://www.aquariumworldpa.com/
Petco in Port Richmond but you would still have to get an Uber. Can’t say they have a great selection but hey did have some really pretty Jack Dempsey and other African Cyclids the last time I looked
PLEASE do not buy from a chain like PetSmart or Petco, they are horribly abusive to the fish a quarter of them die.
Second this. They have a pretty well stocked aquarium section. They get new fish every Wednesday I believe, and the manager orders rare ones that usually sell out in hours.
They have an insane array of reptiles and fish. I randomly stumbled in, was surprised to find it in Roxborough. Would definitely recommend, and they have a very cute store cat.
They’re fantastic. The owner rescues local cats and fixes them and adopts them out, and they’ll happily order things you need - I used to get bulk orders of litter and food when I was running Temple Cats.
Turtles in the Italian market as well.
Monster pets is the best in the city sorry.
They order from some of the same suppliers as any other fish stores. Nothing wrong with buying fish from a chain store, there's plenty of great aquatics managers at petcos. Of course there's still benefits to supporting a locally owned business.
You don't care that Bettas are kept in little plastic cups the size of a mug and fed only once a week? Ok.
South River Aquarium! A new little store in NorthEast Mayfair area behind the OfficeMax.

First thing I thought of was Aquarium Center. Not sure if you are going to find something like that in the city.
