Hopefully there was a camera on the business or school. Terrible
There absolutely are cameras on the school but if I understand correctly, the shooting wasn’t immediately next to the school. It was a few blocks away.
Guns have to go. There are far too many on the street.
That makes sense. I would love to see state and federal change to ban/collect/destroy handguns but failing that the city needs to up its efforts. But handguns are so easily to conceal and smuggle that I don’t know how you do that without upping community policing and using more cameras.
Lol good luck with that. That will never happen
You think the government will collect and destroy all handguns? You're delusional
Ultimately yes, handguns are a scourge on American society. They have no purpose except to kill. But obviously it would take decades to do and there is no political will to actually own up to america’s gun crisis, so I guess the city needs to figure out what it can do.
You know most the people in the city are killed by unregistered illegal weapons? You think the government is going to collect and destroy guns that are illegally owned and not tracable?

Yes, most gun crime uses illegal guns. Nearly all of them started as legal, and then were straw purchased, trafficked or stolen. So while the government needs to step up enforcement of crimes that can catch people carrying illegal firearms. But the original source is the legal market, which ultimately needs to be curbed
Mandatory sentences for attempted homicides
Even better
Mandatory execution/life in prison for straw purchasers
As long as the government is making tax money off of it, it's going to be around forever. Good luck getting an ammendment change, especially when supreme court is a majority right leaning.
All I'm saying is its ridiculous to make a statement that the government is going to take guns away and destroy them. There would be an uprising. Crime would probably increase due to criminals knowing people don't have guns to protect themselves.
If anything it will hurt the people more who need to protect themselves. Criminals will still have guns regardless of them being banned, if it did happen.
Gun violence is less in states where people carry guns, because criminals know better bc alot of people are carrying.
They're here to stay.
What Philadelphia needs is more law enforcement and more officers on the streets but the brilliant people who defunded the police have made things worse.
Where did you learn that gun violence is less in states where people carry guns? This CDC graphic suggests otherwise.
https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/pressroom/sosmap/firearm_mortality/firearm.htm
Hard to get a conviction without good evidence.
Hence:
MANDATORY 4K
I didn’t say the government will, I said they should. I have never seen convincing data that handgun ownership (or CCLs) decrease crime, though gun ownership certainly increases risk of death by firearm. Also, why are you making things up about defunding the police when the current budget is the highest its ever been?

I really don't give a shit about this, I was just saying your idea to put all the guns in a gun furnace of your dreams was stupid. Nothing will change. Get used to it. I can pull references of what I was referring to but this will just never end.
I don't remember. I'm not a walking stat book. I don't really care. Not talking in circles about this shit. I was just ragging on this guy who wants to scoop up guns and take them away from everyone bc it's his world and we all live in it
Well if you don't know what you're talking about then don't say it. States that carry generally have more gun deaths than states that don't.
and a lot of them are extremely old guns as well. My ex's stepdad was a cop and said they would pick up these wild west looking ass guns all the time from these shootings/crimes
The gun manufacturers need to shutdown their factories. This is America though and our dollar almighty will continue to accept its daily sacrifice of American blood.
Everyone has guns in Phila. By your logic, we should be the safest city in the country. As it turns out, when everyone has guns, some people will use them.
Everyone has guns in Philly? Blanket statement, lazy, and not true.
The real problem is drugs and needing more law enforcement cracking down on dealers, labs, distribution points, etc.
The government needs to Crack down on regulating oxycodone and prescription opiates which leads to harder drug use and more crime.
The root evil of gun use is substance abuse. Instead of going after guns, they should be trying to heart of the problem.
I’m glad to see you support enabling drug dealers and people with mental illness kill themselves and us as efficiently as possible. Also, yes, it’s clear that a large population of Philadelphia residents have firearms and it’s also clear that a large population of Philadelphians like to use those firearms. You can’t in good faith dispute this.
I never said I support drug dealers and people committing suicide. Go fuck yourself, don't put words in my mouth asshole.
You're a total piece of shit to say that I support such things. I literally just said we need more police to Crack down on drug dealers and you come back with this?
You're delusional and a waste of life.
Hahahaha. Triggered.
Do you just comment on shootings? Looking at your history you've commented on dozens upon dozens.
You must be a joy to be around in real life. Lol.
I’ve been told as much.
