This is my first Halloween in Philly and I wanted to know how bad mischief night is here? I’m near Fishtown area. We always had it in the suburbs, but wasn’t sure if it’s the same in the city or not.

I think it’s kind of a thing of the past. Kids talk about it but it’s nothing.

I haven’t seen anybody do anything on mischief night since the late 90’s

The way kids are shooting each other these days, I sure as shit hope nobody's out doing anything.

I mean, nothing more than any regular night in Philly, but for real, that’s pretty bad on it’s own.

Gun violence, drugs, homelessness. The usual

I'm in Fishtown and haven't seen or heard anything crazy on mischief night. However, I do keep my kids inside because we are in Philly after all.

It’s died out in recent years, but mischief goes on in Philly 24/7/365. It used to be worse in other cities: Detroit had whet they called Hell Night and arson was the big thing. :(

We used to have egg fights under 95 near where Rizzo Rink is now on Mischief Night. No one got shot.

When every night in Philly is mischief night, the one right before Halloween no longer holds any particular distinction.

And when the standard level of nightly "mischief" has reached the point of shootings, car jackings, muggings, rapes and retail thefts?

Toilet paper in the trees, egging a house, and shoving potatoes up tailpipes may even be considered a welcome respite to some.
