My used Nissan kicked the bucket sadly, so I was looking for a certified used car.
All the used cars at the (multiple) dealerships I went to, were around 20kish. I also looked online for cars and while they were far cheaper (10k) they all had a ton of miles on them or looked like they needed work.
I brought my dad along to the dealerships because I’m not a car person. He said I’m better off just buying new at this point. I really want to move out of my parents house, but I can’t exactly afford that on 50k here in Jersey either.
Options a) Pay 10k for a used car that has 100k miles on it and need work B) buy certified used that is only slightly cheaper than new c) buy new.
I feel sick. I put a deposit down but it is refundable. Please help! I am so stressed. I am so mad my car went kaput.
Edit:
Other Notes: I can afford monthly payments while I live at home, but I do want to move out. I will be making more money as time goes on at this job, as there is regular raises
Edit2: i did NOT buy this car yet fyi. Just put a refundable deposit down.
Edit 3: I don’t think I’m going to get the new car. My priority is getting an apartment. However, I don’t think I can get a beat up car like y’all are suggesting. I have had bad experiences with that. I think I’m going for certified used.
