I applied and was approved for two different credit cards during the first week of December. It's almost January and still haven't received either. And when I called them, both companies said the same thing: there's a severe delay in credit card production and shipping which is causing delays, which is really odd to me because I've never heard of anything like that. Shipping delays yes, but production is a new one.

My Chase Disney was delayed too and I only even got it for the merchandise/dining cardholder discount on a trip that’s already over 😂

So you aren’t alone

Had that occur with the WF Autograph Visa, approved on 12/11, called a week later and was told there'd been delays, shipped 12/26 and arrived today. Doesn't help but yes you are not alone.

Fidelity was having problem shipping debit cards as well. I ordered a replacement in November because the chip on mine broke. I just received it.

When I went to the ordering page again, they have put up a notice about supply shortages of cards.

My mom took out a credit card at Lowes to get my dad a few things for Christmas. This was mid December and she still hasn't gotten it yet. They said the same thing.

I wouldn't be shocked if there were some supply chain issues tied to the EMV chips that all modern cards have. They're the kind of low grade semiconductor that ends up being made in China so lockdowns + outbreak could be a big issue. Also, chip manufacturing requires neon and the largest world supplier of neon was Ukraine.

https://www.pcbb.com/bid/2022-07-19-what-the-lingering-chip-shortage-means-for-cfis suggests that this might be a big part of it.

My credit union has an alert about this on their website. There are significant delays apparently.

I applied for a card two weeks ago and received it this week. That was Capital One. Also, if you’re in dire need for the card, could they provide card details for digital wallet?

Odd. I applied for a Amazon Prime card right before Christmas and I've already received the physical card.
