When I was younger, an "adviser" sold me whole life insurance. Later I hired a Fiduciary and he tried to talk me into whole life insurance for my kids. Now what?

Seems like everywhere I turn someone is giving me bad advice. I simply do not have the time to try and find good places for my money. If I can't trust a financial adviser or a Fiduciary - where do I turn?
