I'll share with you what I shared with mods in response to seeing results:

The survey was up for about a week, but only captured 100 responses between Jan 2 and Jan 3. We can either use these results or we can ask people to redo the survey in order to capture a bigger sample size (I will pay for the survey if necessary to permit more than 100 responses). The current sample size leans 2:1 in favor of allowing all crime posts and not having a weekly crime thread (43 wanting individual threads and not wanting a containment thread, 21 wanting all crime in the containment thread, 24 wanting mods to decide on a case-by-case basis). https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1q-xGVvyH4oDENtRmFNNSd4B7dbm7vZlRLNZaardGta4/edit?usp=sharing (there's an IP address column, but no IP was captured as I specifically disabled it from being captured for this survey).

Is it really a do over when someone says “the survey will run for 7 days” and it only runs for about 1? Also, if you’re just going by plurality more people voted for the crime thread than for no crime thread….

I’d imagine the migrant threads are giving you guys a lot of grief so perhaps a migrant crisis megathread.

Any discussions on further expanding the megathread experiment?

This seems to be a case of “the mods didn’t get the response they were hoping for so let’s have a redo until we do”

Did disabling IP capture also disable preventing the same IP from taking the survey over and over?

Yes, they had an option separate from disabling IP to allow one submission only
