Brannan has a heavily gerrymandered district. They literally split Dyker Heights into 3 districts and made a 1 block wide connector through it for Justin.
We need fair districts. Gerrymandering is the oldest form of voter suppression.

Another case for ranked choice voting at the general election, not just primaries. If anything, I'm in favor of doing away with primaries, and just doing an open general election with ranked choice voting.
It gets rid of weird shit like this where people are incentivized to evade party primaries because they know they'll lose a primary, but win a general election.

Ironically, Vickie Paladino's Democrat alternative in 2020, Tony Avella, was a former IDC member as a State Senator and did the same thing as Kagan while being able to keep the D next to his name.

Just a reminder that in the 30’s to 40’s with LaGuardia and under a proportional representation system the city council used to have six parties, with the two biggest parties being the Democrats and the American Labor Party.

You love us so much that your party cheers for gun toting rednecks to terrorize drag queens reading books to kids.
You love us so much that every leader in your party wants to cut social safety nets.
You love us so much that your media and leaders and members across the country bully, harass, and cause trans kids to commit suicide.
The Republican Party is about hatred and money.

I came to this USA when I was in my 20s and I was a democrat. But now Democrats have gone too much to the left.
I don’t agree with the Republican Party 100% as Im sure you don’t agree with democrats 100%.
I would vote for common sense Democrat and I will not vote for a crazy Republican.
Once you grow up and have a family, you will think differently.

Your sarcastic “merry Xmas” is not welcomed.

Malliotakis (R) beat Rose for Congress; Chang (R) beat Abbate for Assembly.
Mike Tannoussis (R) Assemebly Rep. Michael Chang (R) won State Senate.
Vegan Branan (D0 won City council by less than 1%, all of them "Write ins".
The area supported Adams for Mayor. Bay Ridge and Brownsville were united to defeat Brownstone Brooklyn.
I get downvotes for saying the truth. Politically speaking, the area is different.
ThreeLittlePuigs t1_j1qeg23 wrote
Brownsville is not United with Bay Ridge. That’s likely why you’re getting downvotes. It’s complete rubbish. They have back the blue and trump rally’s in bay ridge soon. That shit wouldn’t make it a half block in Brownsville
Dont_mute_me_bro t1_j1u5c3h wrote
In the case of Adams, Brownsville was united with both Bay Ridge and Breezy Point. Adams did well in all those areas. His appeal is to working and middle class outer borough voters. It's hard for the Brownstone crowd to digest (because Progressives look down on working people in BayRidge/SI and because they see themselves as looking out for ethnic and racial minorities).
ThreeLittlePuigs t1_j1v5e2g wrote
Yes I know that people voted for him in Brownsville but for a myriad of different reasons. I know it’s hard for people who don’t spend time in these neighborhoods to know that, but actually Adams spent a shit ton of time in Brownsville building relationships for his campaign

At the end of the day, no one cares the reasons. What matters is who won. Adams got support from places like Brownsville and East New York as well as Bay Ridge and Staten Island. He didn't do well in Astoria or Park Slope.

Ari Kagan switched parties so he didn't have to run in a primary against Justin Brannan and lose in his newly drawn district. That's about it.
