These are people who never had consequences for their actions in life, and will probably never change.

I just assume anyone who is blasting music is looking to be confronted. It sucks, but it just not worth dealing with them.

People forgot how to ride the trains over the pandemic. Big example I see is not removing their backpacks from their backs

Yeah if you’re crazy enough to think that’s acceptable then I want nothing to do with you. I was on the R yesterday and this man with a huge speaker he lugged around blasted some middle eastern dance music in the train car. Cop told him to stop and he still did it once the train left the station.

Lived in NYC for fifteen years and always internally grumbled at subway/bus music and kids with the volume up on games.

Started commuting from the Hudson Valley and got the same folks on Metro North. Even in the Quiet Car.

Started working remotely and hiking the mountain every morning... Guess what? Folks play their music on the trail.

Get some good headphones. These folks are unavoidable.

I do not miss the E. I have been riding the subway for 15+ years and It seems like there was a surplus of these types on the E compared to other lines. Then it’s probably the J.

Or touching people. Tap tap tap tap. Use your fucking words and say "Excuse me." What the flying fuck, do you want a fucking fist to the face? Don't fucking touch people on the subway you fucking creep.

I always joke with my friends that if I could do anything without punishment, it would be taking people's phones and speakers on the train and Gronk spiking it into the ground

It took me too long to realize this. Confronting them pretty much cannot end without conflict, because the very purpose of the music playing is to incite a conflict. The music is a challenge to everyone in the space, by a mentally unwell person.

What if we all just decided to start confronting people? Some of us won’t make it but it would help the greater good. I’m joking but now I just sit next to people not using headphones and stare at their phone. I had one guy put his phone in his chest pocket and zip his jacket up. I’m not going to steal your iPhone dude but it works most of the time. I’ll ask what they’re playing. I want to hand out cheap headphones, like from an airplane but I’m pretty sure I’ll get beaten up. I don’t really care, I’m tired of acting like I have to just stare off and let people be assholes. Back a good person up if you’re brave. I literally don’t care anymore and I hate the loud speakers. I’m going to confront the saxophone guy and he’s definitely looking for trouble. He told a car he was going to make their ears hurt if he didn’t get more money. That’s psychotic. “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore.”

I would gladly take loud music over the plumes of K2 smoke I second-handily inhale repeatedly on my commute.

Nothing worst than people complaining about their sensory annoyances on a fucking city like New York. Buy some noise cancelling head phones😖.

You can’t control other peoples behaviors and a very small small minority actually cares about what annoys you.

Lol I think I was on the same car as you, was it the front car delayed for 45 min right before 5ave 53rd headed to court square? Some Mexican guy blasting shitty music on his phone.

Unrelated but reading the sentence “we’re deep under water” terrified me (even though I knew it to be true, I never thought about it till I saw those words) and now I will never stop thinking about it when on the train. 😩

  1. People who are playing music loudly on mta are getting exactly the reaction what they want from you. Please buy some headphones and mind ya business.

  2. YOU `get a grip’

Peace ✌🏽 and love ❤️

El oh fucking el, these are the people who have have had undesired outcomes from their actions in life and could care less about what is going on in your head— unless you confront them and bring that energy into their world.
