You sound like my dad. It was fine to eat pork and share pork with other Jews, he said, but not to let anyone non Jewish know that you ate pork. It’s a truly absurd theory.

From my understanding your dad had it backwards. Obviously eating pork is not "fine" for a Jew because it's not kosher. And a Jew definitely cannot share pork with another Jew for the same reason. Regarding telling non-Jews they ate pork, I haven't heard any problem with that. However, I think there may be a problem with telling Jews they ate pork because that Jew may then think it was kosher. So your dad's theory sounds absurd because it was incorrect.
