My March 2023 list was a larger success than I anticipated! I’m not stopping yet and looked for different events to attend throughout NYC for every day in April.

I try to seriously limit major venues like Radio City Music Hall or Barclays Center due to both their cost and how easy they are to find already. But this month I discovered that 1) Ana Gabriel was stopping in Brooklyn for a world tour, and 2) I had no clue who Ana Gabriel was. On a whim, I put her on shuffle on Spotify. So now my April splurge will be attending the world tour for a Mexican pop sensation who rose to fame in the 90s. My Spanish may be terrible, but “Simplemente AmigosSLAPS.

That said, it did feel a little wrong to pick an event on 4/20 less, uh, apt to the date. So for those looking to turn that day into a haze, here are a few greener options:

Before going anywhere, please confirm the date, time, and location using the listed website. Any event is at risk of being postponed, relocated, canceled, sold out, or at capacity. Some events require advance registration, and if you are visiting, you should double-check how long it will take to get to the venue. The opposite can happen, too. I have also personally been to events where I was one of just a few attendees. To that I simply say there is no downside to having an open mind to new people and new ideas.

Also, if I may use this platform for a month-long recommendation... Dancin’ is unlike anything I've seen on Broadway. There are performances every day except Mondays. It's not a perfect show, but it feels downright criminal how easily I've been able to get $40 Rush tickets hours after they've gone on sale. My lists always include a few dance shows, and Dancin’ is like the MOADS.

Thank you to those of you who provided feedback last time. One piece of feedback that I took to heart is that I hadn’t thought about how many of this subreddit’s users are tourists planning a trip, so I posted earlier this time. While many of these are events I would go to—and a few of them I do!—I try to think bigger than my individual interests and showcase the full range of what this city has to offer.

Maybe something to add to the list:

Cherry Blossom season should be towards the mid/end of April.

There's no specific date as it depends on when the Cherry Blossom bloom. They are only in peak bloom for roughly a week so it's easy to easy to miss.

You can see when the cherry blossoms are in bloom from their site. I've been to the Cherry Blossom festival pre-COVID (like 8 years ago) and it was super PACKED with people and I think tickets for that festival weekend was more expensive.

Personally I hate the crowds so I much prefer going on a weekday during peak bloom week when there's not much people there. I went last year and it was lovely, there wasn't too much people. If you only have weekends off, maybe try going the weekend before or after the Cherry Festival if you want to avoid the crowds.

The only bad part about going during the week of the Cherry Blossoms festival is that you'll pretty much only see the Cherry Blossoms cause nothing is in Bloom that early so don't expect much of anything else.

Great list! How were seats for Dancin' rush tickets? I've heard the lottery tickets tend to be in the obstructed front rows.

I did it twice: one was orchestra right and the other was orchestra left. Both were maybe 10 rows back and had great views.

The ramble tour link is dead. I looked on the rest of the website and only found a tour mentioned in May. Do you have another link to it?
