Here's an interactive map of every street tree in New York. The data is from the 2015 New York Street Tree Census. https://observablehq.com/@bmschmidt/trees I hadn't realized how much variation in species there is, both block to block and borough to borough. (Most of the maples are in Queens, most of the ginkgos are in Manhattan.

A pointillist map of New York in many colors, highlighting an elm tree on 33rd street in Queens.

Thanks for this. I finally found out what kind of trees I'd never seen before and had no idea for 15 years. Small tree with huge leaves, it was a Catalpa.

So these are the MFs that wreck me during the spring tree pollen season. Damn slutty trees spilling their pollen everywhere...

Anyway. Thank you allergy shots.

I appreciate the apology. I'm working to cope with your sex play by injecting your pollen into my arms via. an allergist on a weekly basis for the next 3 years.

How do you feel about that?! I'm a part of it now!

That map sadly only features trees on public land. On my property I have a fig, Pear and Crabapple tree, none of which are counted. The crabapple in particular is a favorite with local bees, and it's blossoms in spring are a magnificent sight. I feel bad that they're on private property and no one gets to see them. Anyway, thanks for the link....

It would be cool to feature more private property trees. There are some impressive specimens near me, and it would add a lot of species diversity.

Even without private property though, the official map has far more trees than the OP’s map. Even just looking at Brooklyn it’s 177,293 in the OP and 227,812 on the official map.

Agreed. I can't even speculate what the actual tally would be. My property in Queens has 3 alone. There are tens of thousands like it. I know quite a few locals who grow figs. We talk and share tips on tree care....
