It's literally only for people who live in the NY broadcast area, don't want cable, but do want to watch Yankees games.

Because currently those people have essentially no other options.

People who only watch sports on TV and live in the area that is blacked out through MLB.TV. It is $75 cheaper than the only other streaming option in Direct TV. Most people don't want to do illegal streams each game.

They are, but if you live in the NY area, they are blacked out and you can't watch them. It is the same for the Mets. If you lived in California, you could watch Yankee games on MLB.TV.
