Unidentified doesn't mean aliens. Just something that wasn't identifiable.

Exactly. But at this point the whole "Unidentified flying object" connotation being synonymous with aliens doesn't help the issue at all. Technically even an airplane is a "UFO" until it is identified as such. Everything is unidentified until it is later identified. It doesn't mean anything, really, and just feeds the conspiracy theorists.

Because their militaries either understand their own camera technology or are too afraid of looking like a dumbass 😂

Really the only thing they're 'destigmatizing' is the US government looking like idiots with their official reporting.

"unidentified" really says more about the viewer than the flying object.

The government is upfront that a chunk of the cases are no big deal, regular stuff that can be explained away. But there are other cases that "appear to have demonstrated unusual flight characteristics or performance capabilities, and require further analysis."

"Unidentified flying object" isn't synonymous with aliens. "UFO" is. And this happens in language all the time.

>Technically even an airplane is a "UFO" until it is identified as such. Everything is unidentified until it is later identified.

No offense but this is the kind of logic a child would use. Do a bit of research on the etymology of "UFO".

We can safely now say there are no alien spaceships that the world is privy of. If so, trump would have thrown that bone to the dogs long ago.

SiriusC t1_j4fevbg wrote

No, it doesn't. Not in the context of "UFO".

The term was created by the United States Air Force as a catch-all for intelligently controlled craft. The "Unidentified" portion of it applies to the technology, behavior, & origin. "Object" is understood to be a craft or machine, for lack of a better term.

It's not for a viewer who can't quite tell if something is a bird or a balloon.

LasciviousApemantus OP t1_j4fibee wrote

No xD they don't. There is literally not a single high quality recording of a UAP because the "phenomenon" of UAPs is unanimously and unequivocally the result of camera sensor, parallax or focal compression artefacting. If it wasn't blown out, distorted or poorly tracked, it wouldn't even BE a UAP, it would just be a fucking bird or weather balloon or whatever the fuck it actually was that they mistook for some kind of supernatural bullshit.

LasciviousApemantus OP t1_j4fj4lt wrote

Yeah bro UFO is literally an acronym for unidentified flying object. 🤦 Do a bit of research on the etymology...?

Idk man i'm kind speechless. I know the dunning-kruger effect is a thing but do you have to be so aggressively wrong? That acronym is like... common knowledge. And things being unidentified objects until they are identified objects is like... Like, thats how things in general work. Have you never dealt with the basic fundamental logic of things? Lots of things are the kind of logic a child would use. Like basic object permanence, which presumably you lack also in addition to being unable to distinguish between identified and unidentified objects. Just because children have these skills and you don't doesn't mean that they aren't an essential part of being a functioning... well, hell, not adult, but a person in general.

Given all of the current and impending geopolitical tension (Russia v Ukraine, China v Taiwan, N Korea v everyone, etc etc), I wouldn't be surprised if the US has been ramping up testing of their top secret aircraft tech over the last couple of years.

If the Space Brothers were humanity's friends, they would likely have been up-front about it by now. Alas, since UFO sightings seem correlated with military bases, any lights in the sky are likely we humans. We has met the aliens, and them is us.

Yes and Lockheed Martin could fly a drone over their heads and all 500 soldiers would say "i saw a UFO" because that's what it means. It's just unidentified.

Also they changed the term to UAP unidentified aerial phenomena, so they're using the UFO term again? Or is this selective language so they can say they never said anything? lol

LasciviousApemantus OP t1_j4g8d4c wrote

I mean technically thats actually what Area 51 was. They were just testing R&D for drones and shit out there long before the public even knew what a drone was. I actually had a special forces friend who said he believed in aliens because he was actually stationed out there and heard some DOE guys talking secretly about what i now know from the way they described it was probably the gimbal footage.

But you know what they say, if your tool is a hammer every problem becomes a nail, and if your tool is meth every bird becomes a CIA drone designed to steal your secrets.

I don't know. I know if he knew about them that would have been the case, but then I think about Independence Day's hand-wavy "two words Mr. President: 'plausible deniability'" scene and how many reports of senior leadership in the White House deliberately ignoring some of his orders and I think there could still be a case made for it.

The Earth is surrounded by a shell of satellites and telescopes, radios, receivers of almost every frequency spectrum. Our airspace is constantly monitored by militaries and civil outfits all across the world.

Yet some people still think a UFO could float directly overhead with absolutely no detection.

Maybe I have a lack of imagination for alien technology, but even aliens have to follow the laws of physics.

But UFO sightings reported going down more and more and more over the past 20 years really tell the truth of it deep down.

I think another key component is this is the militaries soft pushback preparing for the future.

NASA is going to find foreign cells and bacteria at some point. It's going to happen somewhere.

And rather than some enormous philosophical, THERE IS NO GOD!! Moment for christians. The Air Force and others are just making it an expected outcome.
