As a descendant of slavery, I'm more offended that you think I'd be offended by the term "field work".
You're kinda outing your way of thinking by doing this without even being asked to.

Oh, but don't you know? You have the emotional stability of a small child, and you just can't handle words that could literally at all be tied to anything bad that ever happened to people who looked like you hundreds of years ago. This is why white people need to start moral crusades to get people to not say "Pokemon master" because it'll offend you!(yes, that's a real thing I saw once)

It does feel like some mental gymnastics. I always understood field work as work in the speciality that you’re studying. Never thought of it in the vein these people seem to be thinking about it.
Homonyms are a thing and “field” is one of them.

Right? It’s just posturing to make themselves look like they give a fuck about current issues when this likely does nothing for the black community, and the black community was likely not even asked their opinion on this.

It's funny because the two official definitions / etymology of the term field work has 100% nothing to do with slavery. They were coined in the 17th & 18th centuries. Are the descendants of serfs and European peasants offended too? Lol
