That's nothing. A woman got away with working as a psychiatrist in the UK for two decades despite having no medical qualifications. She only got caught because she forged a patient's will (which, weirdly, is also how Harold Shipman got caught...)

Imagine being on meds or therapies prescribed by this lady. Going to need meds and therapy to deal with your meds and therapy.

Something like this happened at a facility I worked at. Honestly, faking being a shrink isn't anywhere near as hard as it sounds. Anyone with some self-confidence and ability to learn could pull it off.

I know a guy who is currently committing fraud both online and in person by falsely claiming to be a psychiatrist. Tried to report it and the state board doesn't appear to give the least fucks.

I've been to a handful over the years and I don't think I could tell between trained and walked in off the street. The bar feels low.
