“Law enforcement worker” Cop. He was a cop.

I saw this on the news, and it made me feel really old. Sitting there wonder "WTF is catfishing?"

The only time I've ever used that word was when we were actually fishing for catfish. Now it's being used to describe a crime on the news.

I guess it's simultaneously new and old - It's been a thing for about a decade, but it's pretending to be someone you aren't online - usually a guy pretending to be a younger (attractive) girl either to troll other guys or to trick girls/women - but other permutations exist.

It has something to do with Catfish allegedly having been shipped with live Cod, which apparently wasn't even a thing.

Not oniony. This is near my brother. Pretty sad. Nothing funny about it.

So cop resigns for a reason the authorities don't allow us to know, moves to the other side of the country, and is immediately rehired as a cop. Proceeds to murder and abduct.

Wonder just what it was that prompted his initial resignation?

If this pattern seems familiar, replace "cop" with "priest" and you'll realize why.

Passive voice reaching new heights in failure to inform with that incredible effort to avoid identifying the murderer as a cop.

How about "Sheriff's Deputy shot by law enforcement workers." Or "Law enforcement worker shot by law enforcement workers"?
