Article says they think there’s no repercussions. There likely will be for the poor kid. Hopefully not but these situations are never good. Kids just don’t understand complex situations like that.

Yeah, the "It's good to be honest we shouldn't lie" sounds like something right out of children's educational programming. If it wasn't on TV, it's the type of things preschool covers. Although it makes me think the toddler had to be at least 3 or 4 years old to do such a speech.

Possible, but not that dependent on what you do. I mean sure there are plenty of things that will make crime more likely to happen to you. And you can decline to ask for anyone's help in any situation, but the whole thing about violent crimes is that they are things done to you, completely against your will.

Sure, you can go off the grid, live on island so remote there aren't even reptiles to invade your space. You'll reduce the probability of being victimized by a living organism to effectively zero, but that doesn't sound like "other options" on how to live that sounds like an "other option".

Perhaps what I should be asking what you mean by not requiring "the help of the police." Nobody except the dependents of police officers really depend on the police day to day, or even yearly. Perhaps, maybe once a decade over 50% of people will have called the cops once to report something stolen or a possible gunshot.

His parents drilled him to be honest. There is no way a toddler could understand his parents were massive hypocrites and only meant honest with them and not the police.

This kid isn't brave. He's not mature enough to understand the consequences of his actions. He literally thought telling the truth would lead to nothing but a pat on the head.

Nah. The kid was with family, probably all having a good time. The girl is probably is a meth addict who lives at the home but that doesn't mean everyone in the family knew. Police show up and then ask if she's there and everybody says they don't know. The toddler did his thing and they said thanks. Probably no freak out or anything.

Plus kids at that age don't really understand and would probably gloss over it. There's no mention of violence or resisting or there would have been charges. There's no obstruction charges either, so the rest of the family didn't do anything by not cooperating worthy of charges.
