I'm alright with no bail for non violent offenders. How much money you have shouldn't determine if you sit in jail or get out. But if you get arrested again or miss a court date it should be no bail stay in jail until trial.

The problem is that there is a lot of evidence that justice reform efforts being explored today do work in many ways, and are generally evidence based, but only go so far in a society that has trended towards becoming more economically and socially unequal.
It has generally been established that more unequal societies have more crime, and that much of the correlation comes from conspicuous consumption in an unequal environment. Altogether it is not surprising that many parts of the United States are currently on a path towards increasing crime rates.

That's what the no bail system is about. It gives judges and prosecution the ability to make these type of decisions based on each case. Instead of the mandatory crap from before.
This is a symptom of a new system that everyone expected to happen. If it wasn't for all of the deliberate liars trying to paint the no bail system as "criminals running the show", this wouldn't even be a story.

Overall I agree. The problem is when people out on bail keep committing more crimes and keep getting released like this case.
