I’m so confused. At first I thought maybe this was a POV of a dog and a kid…then maybe a kid and a baby…now I’m just lost.

From my understanding the pov is from a younger child, with the older brother being host to some sort of parasite that's slowly taking over his body.

That makes sense, considering he basically turns into a monster at the end. (The older brother, I mean).

I think by the end the brother is gone and his body is just a puppet for the parasite.

Why the father was willing to kill it. His son was gone and all that was left was a parasite defiling his corpse.

Kinda weird how the older brother was kept in the basement though for the parasite to have in the first place…or maybe they didn’t mean that to happen.

I don't think they tossed him in to get infected, think he was locked up because he was infected. Brother appeared to lose control and get violent, father had bruises and he didn't want his sister to get too close.

Plus no idea if it would/could spread to the others meant isolation was the safest option for everyone involved.
