I was born in 71… back in like 1980 a friend of mines mom took a special “ diet “ pill in which we used to joke “ I was a bad ass lil kid” that she was taking speed etc.. come to find out it was tapeworm egg capsules she bought from Mexico .. and weirdly she shared them with other moms .. my mother was friends with her “ Darlene” was her name and my mom knew without really “ knowing” she wouldn’t take the “ miracle” diet pills!! She stuck with yoga and walking to stay in shape. And Darlene ended up being hospitalized many many times before they moved away… my parents still live in same house since 1964-65 dc area. I find it weird how even as children we just kinda sensed and knew she was doing something not good.
