Oh, I’m sure! My mom is a such a rationalist though. Maybe I should ask my cousins.

If I'm being honest, as someone from North Jersey, the people from South Jersey are on my list of "top 10 weirdest things in NJ" - they call Taylor Ham "Pork Roll" and they call subs "hoagies" - and those are just the PG13 things that I'm comfortable sharing here. It gets worse! *shudder*

Also they all live down in the Pine Barrens with the NJ Devil. Like seriously, who moves to NJ to live in the woods? If you want woods, go to PA, Upstate NY, or literally like anywhere else in the Northeastern US. The forests are way nicer there. You wouldn't go to New York City to live in the woods, right?

We have a magazine here called "Weird NJ" - I actually grew up right around the corner from the abandoned mental hospitals in Essex County, they're in that magazine. I'm surprised I haven't seen more stories on here about some of these places. When I was a dumb teenager we went and did them all. Clinton Road, Midgetville, Devil's Tree. We were really dumb. I guess if your mom is a rational person she probably wouldn't know about them, lol

When we left the Islands, we actually lived in Verona for several years, so I know all about Taylor Ham/"pork roll" lol! As for the spooky stuff, I wasn't really into it very much, guess I was too afraid my own memories might be real! I do remember hearing about Clinton Road though.

That's awesome. Went to Our Lady of the Lake for a few years before moving back to New York State.

Lol that was my church, I used to work in the rectory & as a sacristan when I was younger. I saw the inner workings & the financials of the church and that was when I stopped going. I didn't like how it was run like a business/how they brought in way more money than they actually needed. Made me wonder who was pocketing all the profits. I swear there was a story in the bible about that, where Jesus went and flipped over all the merchant tables because they were using the house of God to make money. Imagine learning about that in church/CCD and then realizing that the whole church is guilty of it

I still keep the cross that Father Mike blessed for me around my neck every day. Just in case I run into anything unnatural like the wet lady :P
