I met Bob in Minnesota during an American/National Puppeteers Festival one year and he was one of the kindest most gentle souls I've ever met. I'm going to miss him.

Of all the celebrity deaths this year, at least he went out at 90 and lived a full life.

I can't even imagine how many people's lives this man touched and made better for it. With his decades on children's television, there are 50 year olds and 5 year olds whose lives wouldn't have been the same without him. How badass is that?

I remember being about 4 watching Bob on Sesame Street in the living room of my first home back in England. Brings back a smile.
RIP Bob

I remember meeting Bob at the Wayne Gretzky dinner way back. I was about 8 years old. I had to use the bathroom. As I walked in I couldn't help but be overwhelmed with the stench. I quickly used the urinal and as I was washing my hands, from the stall, out comes Bob from Sesame street... kind of a crappy way to remember him.

He reminded me of having the temperament of a Mr. Rogers. He was an amazing person. And taught my generation many things that were of value. Which seems lost today.
His contribution to underserved children was profound.

Bob, Linda, Gordon, Susan and Maria. And Mr. Hooper. For me back in the day, these people were like my aunties and uncles who just happened to live in the TV.
zanillamilla t1_iz0lk8p wrote
For me, I would include Irene Cara too. She was a regular on the Electric Company and those of us 70s kids would watch both shows back to back.

And he sang beautifully. I remember that most for some reason. I watched the show even when I was really a little too old for it, since I kind of had to raise myself. His kindness and love of music were inspiring. RIP.

in some way, the fact that a real human being could be so gentle, kind and caring makes him even more admirable!

Wow what memories this brings back to me, I was just about 3 years old, I remember how “Bob” and “Louise” and the rest of the Sesame Street family were the best of t.v. at the time. Oh of course PBS was the best place for us to be. I’m 50 now, so I remember watching it on a black and white screen and they only had 3-4 stations and there was still a test screen when they went off the air LoL!

Let's be honest.
We grew up with them, and no matter how shitty the people in our lives were, we always had these individuals as beacons of how we should act.
Now that we have the chance to be like them, we should - not just because they're aging, retiring, and dying, but because it's the right thing to do.
Beccadrummer t1_iz7z90h wrote
