note - this is NOT a new disease, the scientists have just advanced our understanding of how common viral infections occurred and their methods for avoiding our immune system's response. just to repeat this is not a new disease, there is no need to panic, if you are worried read the article.

It's also likely a very good clue/hint as to how more and more complex primordial organisms can emerge from simpler molecular/organic systems that aren't quite what we'd define as living.

How is it not two old viruses (RSV and the influenza) that have combined to form a new virus with two attack vectors (including resisting white blood cells tailored for one of the two viruses) across a wider area of the respiratory tract? And how are the viruses they also suspect form from combinations of animal viruses, etc. not represent new viruses?

And yes, I read the entire article.

Plus viruses form infections, not diseases.

because they believe that this mechanism has been used by hard-to-treat viral pneumonia for a while now, they are only just observing this phenomenon which the viruses have been using for a long time.

Covid VARIANTS are combining in some instances yes. But to my knowledge and I’m assuming other scientists knowledge, Covid has never combined with another type of virus like Influenza.

So how is this an anti-vaxxer or unvaccinated persons fault for RSV and Influenza combing like the article mentioned? Mind you, RSV and Influenza are two different types of viruses with similar symptoms.

Dude.....why are you bringing up Covid mutations/variants to begin with?

Per the article:

> Two common respiratory viruses can fuse to form a hybrid virus capable of evading the human immune system, and infecting lung cells – the first time such viral cooperation has ever been observed.

What does this have to due with Covid? Stay on top Comrade.

I'm very much ok.

I'm still trying to understand how you think that if people were vaxxed it would/could stop Covid from fusing with any random virus. Even if Alpha was the only strain/mutation/variant still there is/was nothing stopping it from doing what this article mentions. Even if everyone was vaxxed, it doesn't entirely stop the spread of the disease.

Are you ok? You better go and reread the comments not just what you think I typed comrade. Not once did i mention fusing.Lmao

"Viruses mutate to adapt to their surroundings and more effectively move from host to host. Mutations can cause viruses to better evade our immune systems, treatments and vaccines. A mutation can help the virus gain traits that better help it reproduce quickly or adhere better to the surface of human cells."

Nothing is 100 percent but the Vax helps with accute sickness, lower the rate of transmission and help stop the virus jumping from host to host wich for the unvaxxed definitely increases the chances
