I grew up 5 minutes from Purdue, and still remember in 2014 when another student was shot and killed on campus. If it had been the day before or the day after, my best friend would’ve been in the same building. It’s hard to imagine things like this happening in what’s always been regarded as a safe college town. I left in 2014, and it seems like things have gone downhill since then. What a terrible tragedy.

Even if something provoked the attacker, there is no indication that the victim was what provoked the attacker.

Im sure whoever said that was not being so literal to the grain.

What they probably meant is that the victim was not a threat nor an aggressor.
