Exactly what I was thinking since Spirit is an option in my corporate travel tool. The one that enforces lowest logical airfare. Thank goodness I live in a United hub so I can fly a deliberately mediocre airline instead of one that's actively hostile to passengers.

Supposedly JetBlue was mainly focused on their gates and will be replacing all spirit airlines planes to bring them to JetBlue standards. TBD

I thought it was about the fleet more than the gates, but yeah. I heard they’ll be brought up to jet blue standards as well, though I’m still disappointed with how far jet blue has fallen quality wise.

What do you mean by a corporate travel tool and enforcing the lowest logical airfare?

For sure. Spirit Airlines is a disgrace to air travel, which is really saying something since air travel in the US totally sucks balls.

I like eating at Karens' Restaurants, fly Spirit, waiting in line for others at the DMV, cold/algery symptoms without medicine, etc. I'm now sad.

Given the season, for a very brief second I thought Jetblue was set to buy Spirit Halloween.
I've heard of diversification, but man...

Don't expect a very high hurdle on this one.
JetBlue and Spirt combined will still only clock in at the 5th spot in the largest airlines list in the US. Unlike the mega-mergers of the past, this one isn't that huge. It's not nearly as widely opposed as several of the others in the past.

There are two wide reaching ultra low cost carriers right now, and after this there will be one. So it has a pretty decent possibility of increasing air travel costs.
Also worth noting that Jet Blue is noted for bad labor relations. And having low end carriers helps to keep the more full service options honest.

It has a big impact on east coast. At a minimum expect gate concession in Boston, JFK, and the Florida airports

I’ll be happy to see Spirit Airlines go the way of the dodo. Couldn’t happen to a shittier company.

Weird how much hate spirit gets. They offer the lowest fares and treat their employees better than most airlines.

I really hope this means they bring them up to JetBlue standards intead of dragging the whole thing down to Spirit's.
