It’s a pretty place. I spent a lot of time there in college studying the Geology. There’s a metamorphic rock found there, called Baraboo Quartzite, that I wrote a couple of papers on in school.

Devils Lake is a pretty state park and I liked rock climbing back in the day.

That said, I found the locals to be a bunch of drunks that hated FIBs, which I am.

Also, Baraboo was the winter home of the Barnum and Bailey Circus, and it’s their only clams to fame, other than the quartzite.

Well, I can't possibly see how white men brandishing flames and holding black boys captive on their knees over toilet paper could be seen as racist. Clearly this was a justified use of force detainment by shining members of the community and not a racially charged hostage situation.

I think we’ve seen all over the country that charges against people committing violent crimes or hate crimes especially against kids aren’t prosecuted until there’s too much outside coverage to ignore. We need to make enough noise that the DA’s hand is forced.

All fair but it’s especially bold given the police arrested the guys and charged them. It’s not common for a DA to just reject that, especially so quickly. At the minimum, I’d think the DA should explain why.

It was homecoming week and some homes had been getting pranked with toilet paper. A group of boys were on their way to a friends house when the dad and some of his buddies stopped them and forced them out of the car onto their knees while being screamed at. One of the men works at the school. One of the men held a flamethrower pointed at the kids. All but one of the kids were POC. No charges were filed other than a minor disorderly conduct against one of the men.

There still aren’t charges brought against the men guilty of this. Letting it slip into obscurity just because a few days has passed is exactly what those guilty of these types of assaults are hoping for.

Born and raised in Baraboo and you’re not wrong about anything except that Baraboo was the summer home for the Ringling Brothers. They wintered in Sarasota, Florida. Idk where Barnum was from.

I’ve also heard the FIB’s bullshit, and I do love the Dells, and I’ve spent time in Baraboo. I hope they understand a lot of us feel the same about them. “Oh, WE don’t know how to drive? How many DUI’s do you have again?” Wisconsin is seriously in the #10 spot for drunk driving incidents. Illinois is 48th. I just know I’d rather drive behind than in front of you.
