I think the real race will be when we see companies competing to make the most capable robot, not the most human. Meaning this is bullshit assuming that humanoid is the best form factor.

I hope you find car horse funny. You're right. Though I do think the millions of robots he sees will be purpose built or special purpose built. I suppose a humanoid would be special purpose.
Perhaps most of our robots won't be human the same way our cars don't look like horses. But you can ride a horse on a carousel.
Unless a tangible thing is being pushed to market, there's plenty of reasons to just smile at his pronouncements.
