This whole story from German colonialism over the genocide on the people living there to eugenics is just one long row of our darkest moments. Sadly especially the first parts, how we behaved in Africa and committed a genozide long before any nazi rose to power is still not acknowledged accordingly. There is still so much to do and so much awareness we must create. I hope that sometimes we can work on this part of our history like we are on the nazi rule.

I hope whoever poor soul had to face such cruelty can find peace. And thag those remains still undiscovered or even in some museum will be given back or at least buried accordingly as well.

Britain invented the concentration camp during the 2nd Boer War, but you won't find it being openly talked about in out education system.

At least Germany addresses their past rather than ignore it.

And the Spanish used internment camps before the brits used them. The Nazi concentration camps were distinct though in that they were used for the industrialized killing of a whole race.

Boer war camps were horrible, but the intent wasn't to kill everyone in them, like with Nazi concentration camps.

Tbh I didn't know this! Thanks for the info. But I also think we're doing a pretty good work regarding the Third Reich but sadly not when it comes to our colonial time. There is a lot to do.

As an American, I wish my country would take a page from Germany's book on how to deal with the shameful part of our history. Instead, we have wannabe dictators banning math problems for being too "woke".

Buried? You mean consecrated. The difference is subtle but it's like me saying they threw your mom in the furnace instead of she was cremated.

I think that's a bit overkill. We can easily be manipulated by our baser instincts but there's a lot of compassion to be had from humans too.

Sadly, it's also much easier to break things than fix them.

Clearly they're more than that, going by your comment alone, you at least need to include "nihilistic" in there somewhere lol

Sad but true. We want to pretend we are good but deep down we all are monsters. We have ruined the earth and one day it will ruin us
