So much for CLIMATE change, huh? Wait, shit.
That's the problem. Global warming was some dumb early messaging and now the right wing idiots meme that shit even though the real and proper description is climate change. And even more proper is "rapid climate change that poses a challenge to way of life for every living thing"
Global warming is still the main problem. There was nothing wrong with calling it that, besides the way idiots interpret it. In the real world, extreme heat is increasing and extreme cold is decreasing.

Yep, my grandmother (in-law) was just saying that the other day. Sad shit.
She should come to Wisconsin and explain to me why it's been in the 30s and 40s for all of February, our coldest month.
We haven’t gotten any snow in the northeast all year. It’s been mid-40s since November
It was 73 in Kentucky yesterday
In the grandmas defense, your example is just as bad to prove global warming as hers is to disprove it. And I am a believer in climate change.
You're assuming it's an isolated event and not part of a steady trend as it actually is.
Im not. But you and the grandma are talking about weather. One month of warmer weather is not climate change. It’s warmer weather like it’s colder in CA.
It's not "one month" of warmer weather. It's a steady pattern of increasingly warmer winters with less and less precipitation. I said February because it's February right now, not because it's a single anomalously warm month.
You said one February . If you meant all winter say all fucking winter. Don’t blame me for calling you out on what you said as opposed to what you now say you meant. Even if all winter that’s weather. Not global warming. Milwaukee hit a high temp of 62 in Feb in 1984. One month or one winter or one day is weather. Years and decades is climate change. So again, your stated example is just as bad as grandmas.
What the fuck do you not understand about the word "trend?" If you're here just to be a pedantic contrarian, shut the fuck up and bother someone else.
Jesus fucking Christ dude. You didn’t say trend. You said all of February. Three fucking weeks is not a trend. It’s not pedantic. If you don’t want to be called out for saying something incorrect don’t say something incorrect. For the third time three fucking weeks of warmer than average is just as stupid as grandma arguing against global warming based on a blizzard where it’s usually warm.
Same in Michigan outside a couple weeks. It's getting into the 50s today
Same here in Indiana. Although this weeks it’s up in the high 50s. It’s freaking me out on a weird primal level a little bit
I moved here's 5 years ago they're in the polar vortex. It's definitely gotten warmer every year but this year is just scary. Sturgeon spearing on lake Winnebago had to be done from the shore because the ice was so thin nobody would drive on it.
Then you explain how that’s still related and they think the goalposts are being moved
"AY! but no TRUE Californian could call this a warming!"

Grapevine already closed, probably!
that's what I heard it through.
Bet you're wondrin' how I knew
No, they already told us one comment up.
My father in law was working up in the Sacramento area. He left Wednesday morning to make sure he didn’t get stuck up there, because he was supposed to come home Friday. As he was coming home, he said the conditions were already getting bad.
hope he got home safe!
Not yet! Probably will be starting Friday into Saturday. But as of Wednesday night still open
It's snowed on my property 3 times in the last 100 years. Going for #4.
Hell yeah buddy, hope you wake up to a nice white blanket today!
Unfortunately, I'm still waiting for #4.

It's supposed to be 80°F in Birmingham tomorrow...
Yea I saw a headline about ‘country braces for blizzard”. And I was here in NC saying “wait, which country because I’m in the mountains and get snow regularly, but forecasts put us in the 70s this week”
Yeah, we hit 80 at my place in the Triangle yesterday. It’ll be hotter today. Fucking nuts.
In SoCal it was hitting around 80F just a week or two ago
Supposed to be 76 in SE OHIO then drop to the low 30's. Crazy assed weather.
Yeah, it's been swinging between ~40'F and ~80'F. What's crazy to me is we'll probably look back on this fondly at some point, as more extreme weather fluctuations take hold (as I understand it).

Ya I think my chickens are pretty confused.

That whole state be glitchin rn
Can confirm, its currently 60 at ~10am...

84°F in Raleigh.
90° in Central Florida -- ugh.
And in DC.
Just found out in another thread that today’s high is 70 in Philadelphia and 47 in NYC (probably 50 miles between them longitudinally, if that).
It's going to be 55 in St. Louis. It was nearly 70 yesterday.
Perhaps not as warm as Birmingham, but that's easily 30 degrees warmer than it should be this time of year. I'm not complaining at all, but it's just weird for me to see headlines like "Winter weather stretching across the country from Los Angeles to Boston!" and I'm outside yesterday in short sleeves and no jacket like it's April.
Hell, the forecast for the next week looks pretty pleasant. Not as warm as yesterday, but it should be a lot worse in February.
I'm in Phoenix. Its currently 54. The high for today is 56. It's going to be a high of 65 tomorrow, followed by 71, and then back in the 50s and 60s.

Well Alabama and California are both in the same hemisphere. Australia is not. While yes the US has drastic temp changes across the country but not as extreme. It's record breaking if it hits the expected temp tomorrow.
SoCal here. The mountains will look awesome next week when all this clears. Brace yourself for photos of downtown LA a front wide panoramas of snowy mountains.
In the meantime, here’s the live feed from an eagle’s nest (yes real bald Eagle) in Big Bear. https://www.youtube.com/live/B4-L2nfGcuE?feature=share
Be careful if you're heading out into nature once this is done. Snow melts and flash floods are always something to be wary of in SoCal.
Thank you

Thank you! It looks like the eagles should be freezing. I don't know how they handle such cold temps and that snowstorm is no joke!!
Meanwhile in Philly. It's suppose to be 73 today. TF.
That can’t be right; they’re calling for a high of 47 in NYC.
Ninja edit: my weather app says 70 in Philly too! That’s beyond bizarre.
I’m in the North Carolina mountains, same thing here. I was very confused earlier this week after looking at the weekly forecast, then seeing headlines like “country braces for blizzard”
Doubly so since parts of NC are going to be in the mid 80's today.
But we know it's just Fool's Spring ;)
Wait really? It's only going to be 40s in NYC. Our weather isn't usually that different
The collapse of the jet stream brings dramatic weather.

Whatever happens next, AVOID DONNER PASS!
Nah, that's way north. The pass you have to worry about here is Mormon Pass. But the only thing worrisome there might be having to endure a spiriting round of "Put your Shoulder to the Wheel".
Snow in some parts of the northern basin already hitting the ground, but not yet in the capacity to stick.
Ever since they merged with Activision its been all downhill
Meanwhile it's 80 degrees and sunny in Virginia right now. The world has gone insane and the weather is following suit, or vice versa.
Wild. Meanwhile in central indiana it’s 60 and sunny. This winter has been bizarre

For some reason I thought they were warning about a Warcraft patch
Currently snowed in at home here in Portland on the east side. We got about 7" yesterday.

We drove our RV from Palm Springs to NorCal today, up and over Grapevine. Was happy to get through before the snow hit. Crazy how green is it throughout Cali right now. I have never seen it so green in all my years!
Dinner was the first meal I've had since lunch.
Global warming my ass .
I served my Mormon mission there. I was just down the road from Wrightwood this time of the year my 1st year out and we got snowed in. It was kinda a blast & would have been more if at the time Mormon missionary apartments didn't suck for sitting around in.

And I guarantee you, some fucking dipshit will be out there unironically saying “So much for global WARMING, huh?”
