Hey Im looking to buy a home in north/ central Jersey , i have a 9 yo school going kid- the only properties that i find pleasing and fit my budget are in towns like carteret, south amboy, Elizabeth and Roselle and I have a concern regarding the schooling quality considering my child get speech therapy from school. Question is, what is the general reputation of these towns in terms of schooling and safety and what other (commutable to nyc ) towns with good schooling should i look into. currently i am renting north edison. I’m also interested in knowing that most of these towns have good housing and so many families live there, what do these families do for schooling? because the Great-schools and Niche ratings for these towns is pretty bad.

Check out fair lawn NJ. You can get a starter cape cod for around 450 and the schools are great. Plus the radburn train gets you to Hoboken in 30 min or penn station within 40

Elizabeth schools are a smoke show and a joke.

I have heard bad things about Elizabeth public schools.

Go as far south and west as you can with the commute. Something Iike kearny or harrison might be a good compromise?
