Desperately need help of those who applied for FMLA/NJFLA to take care of parents who live in a different country. Both of them require joint replacement and there’s a waitlist for a surgery, so as of now they are scheduled for September unless there’s an earlier availability. I want to apply for FMLA and njfla when time comes but does anyone know if such type of surgery will be considered a serious health condition? I’m just trying to figure out if there’s a chance it can be denied. If you had to fly out of country to take care of your family did state/your employer require to submit any additional papers/tests/studies besides a physician attestation? Thank you for any information

Is your FMLA run through a private insurance company? If so, they might be more responsive and be able to answer questions better than the state.
