A bit of a drive, but Retro Classics Video Games in Somerville has a pretty good selection of old-school games and controllers.

That’s much closer to me I’m in east Brunswick I’ll check it out but we have to go to Jersey city for something else so I was gonna combine the trips.

I’m not too sure about stores near there, but there’s Play Hoboken that does a number of different kinds of games, might be worth checking out since it’s so local, but I moved before they opened so can’t speak from experience.
I’ve personally been to Digital Press Video Games in Springfield, which is a bit of a drive, but they seemed to have a good collection from when I was there. I have to imagine there’s someplace closer to Hudson County but that’s the one I know.
There’s also Yestercades in Westfield, which you could get to by train from JC, that has old arcade machines like Barcade but is much more kid-friendly, and they have a couple of stations with different consoles, both old and new. Might be worth a trip especially if you need to get them out of the house in the winter.
