Looks great! People like different condiments, there isn't a "right" way to enjoy a breakfast sando. Same with TH vs PR. Just call it whatever makes you happy! Happy New Year to you, mate.

The bagel is far superior to a hard roll tho.

GapDragon t1_j2ff6jb wrote

The flavor is definitely superior, but the bagel's greater firmness (especially the crust around the hole in the center) does seem to more readily encourage the delicious fillings to slide out.

As a Piney who works in Philly, I love a pork roll egg and cheese on a long roll with SPK.

Good god, yes! I don't know why we can't have those Philly long roll egg sandwiches up north. So much better than a kaiser roll.

Moved to TX and whenever i go back to NJ i get a lightly toasted everything egg bagel with pork roll, egg, American cheese, very light spread of cream cheese, jalapeño, and a smidge of hot sauce and ketchup.

As much as I used to love bagels ummmm I stay far, far away from them. The amount of carbs I'd devour with just one bagel would be an hour plus, maybe two hours for me on the treadmill 🙄

It does look delicious. Can't lie!

Most of the time I would say no to ketchup on a breakfast sandwich, but in the case of pork roll egg and cheese it works. The sweetness balances out the saltiness of the pork roll very nicely.

AVDLatex t1_j2dyys0 wrote

Before we get into the Taylor Ham - Pork Roll fight, can we all just agree that there is no place for ketchup on this sandwich?

SuperModes t1_j2eqgcd wrote

pepperketchup, no salt. TH is made of like 60% salt.

I could agree with you but then I’d be wrong.

SyndicalistCPA t1_j2f3zbk wrote

Ketchup is inherently gross on any breakfast sandwich. You don't need the slap of sweetness. Just overtakes the entire sandwich. Might as well just have to buns with just ketchup in it.

Iam_a_Jew t1_j2e6l4z wrote

Strongly agree although I'm generally not a big ketchup guy. Hot sauce is so much better for this case

This is the only breakfast sandwich where it has a place. Pork roll is very salty and the sweetness helps balance it out.

I’ll raise you one. SPK is overrated.

I don’t need extra salt on my salty meat sandwich. Pepper is whatever.

Ketchup is just red corn syrup.
