Knock off brand. Sacrilege.

Case's is definitely better than Taylor brand these days, which seem to have a funky off-putting aroma. Then again ShopRite tangy is much better too.
Although I'm skeptical that they're all really just made in the same place and packaged differently like typical private label stuff.

Sometimes the knock off is superior. This is one of those instances. Another example would be Oreo.

Case's tangy has long been my favorite.

Case makes ShopRite- it's common for a known brand to just switch over to a store brand or generic. They are definitely made in the same place near Trenton. Someone I know very well got a tour of the plant (and a 6 lb log of pork roll) as a vendor who kept their trucks on the road. I hope I'm not giving away confidential or proprietary info, but I probably buy enough ShopRite pork roll to boost Case profits.

Same.
Gotta love the haters downvoting too. Holy hell, that's worthy of downvotes? 🤦 Buncha crybaby losers in this sub.

Had no idea. Next time I'm there I'll check the back of the packages 🤪

It's because other brands prove the "Taylor ham" people wrong and they can't handle that.

It's acceptable to called it either Taylor Ham or Pork Roll, Taylor Ham being an example of Generic Trademark:

Case's is what almost every shop uses in the state...

It doesn't though. If I ask for a band-aid I don't want no knock off product. Asking for something by brand, or conversely, a menu listing Taylor Ham as opposed to Pork Roll does not mean the other is wrong. But a menu offering Taylor and serving Case's should technically be an issue. Though personally if it's cooked right, sliced to a proper thickness, and covered in pepper and ketchup and hot sauce anyway, I don't tend to care.

I used the word knock off but I wouldn't consider Case's to be a knock off. Would you consider one brand of bacon to be a knock off of a different brand? And as for the menu offering, there is no product that calls itself Taylor ham so I'm a little confused as to what they are selling.
discipleofsteel t1_ivthnv3 wrote
I've seen delis have two separate listings on the menu, one for pork roll and one for Taylor ham.
Bacon, not so much. Hunts vs Heinz, probably. I mean I guess technically a knockoff is supposed to try and pass off as another product? Idk.

I bought two of these last time I went home to Jersey now I make pork roll for friends in Alabama whenever they are here for breakfast. Even though it's not Taylor ham brand it's still great.

South jersey shouldn’t even be a place they should annex it to Pennsylvania. North Jersey is the actual thing south jersey is kind of like a joke

Last time I checked the price difference between shoprite and case is only like 10 cents. I figured it was something like this though since they have all the same varieties in both brands, but didn’t want to risk it just to save a dime.
