After releasing it, the more important question is "why was it in your laundry in the first place"? Do you have mice? If you have mice, it's likely the snake came in to eat the mice.

Yes. That is true, but not for this little guy. I don't think he can eat anything bigger than small bug. Maybe when he reaches full maturity.

He could most likely manage pinkies. They can usually eat anything roughly the same size as their largest diameter.

That said, he may be a lost or escaped pet.

They can unhinge their jaw because their jaws are not connected together. The Jacobsen's Organ is where they can "analyze" scent particles picked up by flicking their tongues.
