What Shoprite is this that you speak of? I've yet to see a cop at any of the ones that I am familiar with.

Neptune. I feel it used to only be on the weekends but now every night.

Neptune ShopRite has had private security for 10 years and a police detail for 15. They specific store contracts with Neptune PD for a police detail. It's the same as when you see cops sitting at construction jobs. I used to work for the security company.

I never liked that they had cops posted in that store it rubbed me the wrong way. The new belmar store doesn't have cops, I wonder why that is....🤔

Probably because of the history of criminal activity in the store vs the other one you mentioned. Seems like pretty basic logic.

True. No store owner wants to pay for that. There have either been cracy incidents or the shrinkage numbers in that location are higher.

Yes, there are societal issues, but it's not always racism. Especially when it's costing the the owner money directly off the bottom line. I guarantee that they're only paying a security guard because that position prevents a bunch of shrinkage or saves them money on insurance after some previous settlements.

The one in Parsippany always had a security guard who was maybe posted at the door, maybe dealing with shoplifting I saw a few times. But definitely not a police officer.
